Sometimes she has an almost sallow look to her, especially in ghost form. Marie hardly ever wears pants, almost always preferring to wear dresses and skirts. She leaves her blond hair down most of the time, so she can duck behind it, and hide away from the world. Her blue eyes are very clear and bright with intelligence, though wary at the same time. She has a very gentle appearance, like that of a fawn, innocent, wary, gentle, and very nervous at times.

OVERALLPERSONALITY| Marie is a very shy little girl, though she isn't so little anymore. Marie doesn't like talking to people, and much prefers to be alone with her books or music. When she has to talk to people she speaks in a soft, whispering voice, and when confronted Marie backs away, much preferring to stay out of it. This little girl hates getting involved in politics and usually stays away from all the stuff going on within the royal families. She tends to be very nervous and wary, but also too trusting at the same time. She's afraid of being hurt and used by people, but trusts them blindly, not seeing when they will. Despite all of this she is very compassionate, caring for everyone, and she's also quite forgiving. As long as you apologize and seem sincere about it Marie will forgive you, even if you intend to hurt her again.
She's also very confused about how she feels about her mother, she wants to trust and love her because, well she's her mother, but Victoria did kill her and is responsible for the state that she's now in. As for the rest of her family, well again she's confused, because they can be very cruel people, but they're her family, and she wants to believe that they can feel and love, because no matter what has happened, the one thing she knows is she does love them all. She's scared of them yes, wary of their intentions, but she loves them nonetheless.
Music and reading are something that Marie is very passionate about. She can play the piano, violin and flute amazingly (she has had lots of time to practice) and effortlessly. She also adores reading, especially older literature, written before and around her human life. Not only can she read and write in English, but over the years she has spent her time learning other languages as well. She can also read, write and speak Latin, French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. Marie spends all the time she can reading or practicing music, it helps distract her from the everyday worries.
Now as strange as this may sound, Marie is really only afraid of a few things, her family, and the dark. She's a ghost, yes, but after almost 300 years of being dead and being forced to wander in ghost form for two hours every night, Marie is terrified of the dark and the cold.

OVERALLHISTORY| Marie was born Anne-Marie Charlotte Cross in 1700. Daughter of Victoria and Alexander Cross, younger sister of Philip Cross. Though she was always referred to as Anne-Marie the young girl much preferred to go by Marie. The young girl was taught to read and write in more than one language from a young age, as was expected of a girl of her time. She also learned how to sew, something she never enjoyed. Marie was often bullied by her brother, so she was timid and shrank away from all confrontation. She was never shown much affection by her parents, who always seemed to be too busy for the little girl.
When Marie was 14 her mother went mad. Victoria poisoned the entire family, killing them and then herself. This brought the curse upon the family. For almost 300 years Marie has spent her time learning. She taught herself how to read and write in Latin, French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch, as well as her native English. Latin was the only of the languages other than English that she had learned when she was alive. It was in her death that the girl discovered her passion for music. In the 300 years she learned how to play first Piano, then Flute, and finally Violin. Music became one of the few things she truly loved, along with reading, and because of her eternity in the ghost town she had all the time in the world to practice her music. This was how she became so skilled at all three instruments. Recently Marie isn't sure what to make her of her family's ruling. She doesn't agree with some of the things they do but she is far too timid to speak against them.
She practically whispered her slight Spanish accent adding a lilt to the words. She pulled her lunch and notebook towards her, leaving half the table free for him. She looked back down at her notebook, and glanced up from under her eyelashes to look at him. Ella quickly turned her eyes back to her notebook and purposely brushed her dark hair so it fell over her face, hiding her still flushed cheeks.

SAMPLEROLEPLAY|Ella paused her note taking for a moment and nibbled the end of the pen, contemplating the possible ideas, running through scenarios for the story in her head. She set the pen down and took another bite of her sandwich, looking down at the paper as if an idea would pop off the page out at her. With a sigh she set the sandwich back down and brushed her dark hair behind her ears. She was lost for an idea, she had all these options but none of them were what she really wanted. Maybe she could introduce a new bad guy, a young boy around her age, a possible love interest. Yes that was it! It was brilliant, make him a bad guy. Ella began scribbling furiously, trying to get a basic idea around the plot, making sure it would work.
She was so engrossed in her writing she didn't even notice the boy walk up to her table. She jumped slightly when he spoke, and looked up, her brown eyes meeting his. He had a small smile on his face and was looking down at her, the perfect picture of politeness. Heat rushed to her cheeks and she realized she was blushing. Ella wasn't good with talking to people, especially boys, and make them cute boys and all bets were off. "Oh, sure."
Unsure of what to say Ella took another bite of her sandwich. She thought she recognized this boy, he was in her Calculus class. She was pretty sure his name was Benjamin. She had never talked to him before but that wasn't unusual. Ella hardly ever spoke to people in her classes, unless they were her friends, and even then she hardly spoke. She began jotting down more notes in the back of her notebook, looking for any excuse not to look up and possibly meet his gaze. She had no idea what to say, or if she even should say something so she took the chance to eat more of her lunch, glad that a full mouth gave her an excuse not to speak.
The dark haired girl began fiddling with her bracelets, spinning them around and around on her wrist, watching as the light caught the blue stones set in them. She could still feel the heat in her cheeks that let her know she was still blushing. It was something Ella couldn't help, she was far too shy to know what to do in these kinds of situations, and when she did say something she usually made a fool of herself. She should have just pretended she didn't speak English, should have spoke Spanish and acted like she didn't understand anything he was saying. It had worked before, people usually left her alone if they thought she didn't understand them. Too bad that hadn't occurred to her a minute ago when he had asked if it was alright so sit down. If only she were faster on her feet, than maybe she wouldn't be in this awkward situation, maybe... Darn it all. If she were more like Clare in her book she would have had something to say, some witty comment, anything. But Ella wasn't like her character, she was herself, shy, uncertain and awkward in all social situations.
